Journey's End and New Beginnings

Poor Ladner has had a rough couple of weeks.  There have been some hideous accidents on our roads and I don't there is anyone in our small community who doesn't know anyone involved.  Please lift up in prayer all those affected by the these events.

An infectious smile indeed

All Saints too has suffered some losses.  Len Bolus (husband of Phyllis) died on 17 November and we will gather to remember him on Tuesday 29 November at 2 pm.  Len was a lovely man with an amazing sense of humour and ready laugh.  Even at 2 am as we waiting in the cold and rain to collect newspapers for delivery together he could force a smile onto my miserable face - which I consider to be a pretty impressive feat!

Ready to rest

We also say goodbye to Eve Taylor this week.  I love this photo of Eve.  She was so very ready to go to her rest.  She was rather special to our Wednesday morning group so we meet on Wednesday at 11 am for her memorial.  Please join us if you can.  She had an amazing life but was more than happy to go and be with the Lord.  Someone told me they visited her just after she died and she had a triumphant look on her face.  Every time I sing the line ".. join the triumph of the skies" I think of her now and it's a nice image.

And so we set off on our journey through Advent together.  We prepare for the trip with our Advent Quiet Day on Saturday 24 November from 9 am - 12 pm.  Elizabeth will be leading us as we learn about different styles of prayer and learn to identify and recognize our own.

Messy Church is having an Advent Celebration at 4 pm on Saturday 24 November.  Come and join us to do some crafts, sing some songs, hear some stories and enjoy a delicious meal with some new friends.

Happy trails!
