The Week Ahead at All Saints

Guarding the door during spring clean up.

Guarding the door during spring clean up.

I’m writing this on Wednesday as I’m about to have a couple of days off. It’s Spring Break so I want to be home with my family and I also need to be there to guard the door - as you know it’s Ladner’s Spring Clean-up this weekend and there’s always the danger of “treasures” being brought home. My husband’s motto is “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” whereas I lean toward “one man’s trash is another man’s trash”. Spring clean up is always an opportunity for “lively discussion” in our house.

So here we are at the beginning of April. Already. We’re fast approaching Holy Week. and Easter.

This Sunday is the fourth Sunday in Lent (Mothering Sunday in the UK by the way). We celebrate the Eucharist at 8:30 am and 10 am.

The Men’s Fellowship dinner takes place on April 2 at 6 pm in the Parish Hall. Sign up on the board if you’d like to come. I know they’d love to see you.

On Wednesday 3 April at 10 am we meet for the Eucharist and Bible Study in the Narthex. This week Dudley will be looking at John 12:1-8.

On Thursday the Parish Health Care Team meet at 9:15 am in the Nurses Office. The Craft Group meets at 10:30 am in the hall.

The last in our series “Sacrifice Then and Now” with Douglas Hambidge is also on Thursday 4 April. Supper at 6:00 pm, teaching and Evensong at 7:00 pm. Don’t worry if you haven’t made it to the first two sessions - all are welcome.

One more date for your diary - we will be having a Spring Clean up of the Church gardens on Saturday 13 April from 10 am to 12 pm. Come along for all or part of the morning, bring your favourite gardening tools, and lend a hand. Whatever you can manage will be much appreciated. The garden is already looking spring-like and cheerful, if “a thing of beauty is a joy forever” then we are blessed to be able to share our grounds with the community. Thank you to Liz and all who regularly show up do the dirty work!
