Pandemic Protocols - an Update
Dear Friends,
As we are all aware the Bonnie Henry has lifted many restrictions that have become our "new normal" over the past months. It is clear from her and the medical professionals that we are entering a different phase of the pandemic. In so many ways this is good news and a reason to celebrate.
I want to thank all of you for your dedication, support and understanding as we have responded to each wave of the pandemic over the past couple of years. It has been a challenging and unsettling time. I am aware that in our own parish family people receive this news with mixed emotions. There are some of us who are really ready to embrace and enter into the new "freedom" found in the lifting of restrictions. But there are also many of us who still need and desire to move forward slowly.
Change is hard, and moving into a phase with less restrictions will be an adjustment with its own challenges. As we move into the next few weeks adjusting to new regulations, we do so cautiously and respectful of those who are moving forward at a different pace.
After a conversation with the wardens we will at All Saints continue for this week with the current pandemic protocols we have in place. In particular:
1) Proof of vaccination, if asked upon entry
2) Maintain some distance between our own bubble and those of others.
3) Offertory Collection will continue via online platforms and with the collection plates located at the front and back of the church.
4) Sharing of the peace to remain as we have been practicing with no contact.
5) Masks are required for coffee hour, Bible Study and social events.
Effective Immediately during Worship only:
1) The use of masks during worship are now optional.
2) Singing is encouraged with or without a mask as per people's personal choice.
I will be taking the remainder of this week to consult with the wardens as we discern and interpret this good news for us. Next week I will be writing again to outline in more detail how we will be moving forward into a new phase with less restrictions as outlined by the PHO and our bishop.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and with those who continue to suffer from COVID.
Blessings,
The Reverend Robin Ruder Celiz
