Robin’s Notebook

Meeting with the United Church

I don’t know about you, but for me, February is flying by. Earlier in January I had the opportunity to meet with the United Church Minister, Lydia. She and I began in our respective parishes within a couple of months from each other in 2019. We had a great conversation and will plan on meeting more regularly for collegial support. We also hope that there can be opportunities within the year where our two parishes can participate in joint worship or events together. In the past our two churches used to share Holy Week services. While it may not be Holy Week, there are other occasions in the year for ecumenical partnering.

Lent

March 2 is Ash Wednesday and plans are underway for two services on Ash Wednesday. There will be our usual 10:15am Eucharist with the imposition of ashes followed by Bible Study. At 7pm, we will be hosting a Zoom Service with the imposition of ashes as well. More details about this service in particular will be coming out shortly. Introducing Zoom as a worship platform is new to us as a parish, but is used by several parishes around the diocese. This service will also serve as an opportunity to explore how we can best utilize our online platforms for worship, meetings and other ministries.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at our upcoming Vestry meeting, either in person or on Zoom. As always I am available to connect with anyone for a chat via phone, Zoom or in-person. I would love to hear from you.
