Robin’s Notebook
Holy Noise
On Saturday April 16 at 7pm we celebrate the Easter Vigil. This is a very powerful service that I highly recommend attending. The service begins with the new fire of Easter and candlelight. During the service there is a part that I like to call “Holy Noise”. This occurs just after the Hebrew Bible readings. The lights in the church are turned on, candles on the altar are lit and while all that is happening there is a peel of bells or Holy Noise. This marks the Easter Moment in the liturgy as we celebrate Christ’s Resurrection. To help with the Holy Noise, you are invited to bring an instrument, shaker or anything that can make a noise. The louder the better!
Holy Week
On Sunday we celebrate Palm Sunday which is the beginning of Holy Week and one of the busiest and most important weeks in the church’s calendar. The schedule Holy Week is as follows:
Holy Tuesday, April 12 @ 12 Noon: Chrism Mass, Christ Church Cathedral
Holy Wednesday, April 13 @ 10am: Mid Week Eucharist and Bible Study
Maundy Thursday, April 14 @ 7pm.
Good Friday, April 15 @ 10am
Easter Vigil, April 16 @ 7pm
Easter Sunday, April 17 @ 8:30 & 10am
I highly recommend any and all of the above services during Holy Week, especially Maundy Thursday through to the Easter Vigil. These are all powerful liturgies that together give shape and form the heart of our Christian Worship.
Delight in Sabbath
On Saturday April 30, May 7 & 14 I am very pleased to offer a new program called Delight in Sabbath. This is an invitation to explore the deeper meanings and implications for Sabbath not only for us as individuals, but also for the parish community. Please contact me directly or the parish office for registration and more information.
Rector’s Schedule
I will be away from the office from April 18-23 for some Sabbath time of my own. Flower will be away the following week, April 25-30. During both weeks, phone and email messages will be checked.
