What’s Going on at All Saints

The sun is shining so brightly into the office today I thought about closing the blinds. But no - I refuse to do it. I’d rather squint with pinprick pupils than shut out this brief blast of gloriousness. No doubt the sun will be the filling in an rain sandwich but whatever - I’ll take it!

This week has been busy - as you know last weekend we had two fundraising events - the plant sale and the concert. Both were very successful. The concert raised nearly $300 for our music ministry and the plant sale (though final figures aren’t in yet) was a success with almost everything sold. Thank you so much to everyone who supported these events. Thank you also to those who worked hard to make them happen. We appreciate your dedication.

We have also had the some kids learning Shakespeare in the hall and giggling and just bringing some lightness and laughter to the place. It’s been lovely to hear them pronouncing things in theatrical poses and being generally enthusiastic about life. Remember that? No, me neither.

An absolute treasure

Tomorrow at 3 pm Saturday 14 May we come together to celebrate the life of the lovely Carleen Gordon. Wife of our past Rector, Donald Gordon. Carleen was such a sweet and sunny lady and I know was very popular with members of the parish during the Gordon’s time here. I think they were the last of our Clergy to live in the Rectory and I remember them both talking about how happy they were here. I hope you can make it to as we remember a life well lived.

Speaking of tomorrow 14 May - please note - the final “Delight in Sabbath” is postponed. The new date will be announced as soon as possible.

In other news - we are soon to begin hosting a new local business in our kitchen. It is a Mexican food catering business started by two ladies who are very good friends and who have been looking for a good space to rent for their preparation work. I’m looking forward to the possibility of mouth watering smells and the sound of them chattering as they work.

Also, starting on Saturday 28 May we will be hosting Arc Rescue - non-profit animal rescue organization (arcrescue.ca) who will be meeting to do dog training with rescue dogs.

It’s great to see our space being enjoyed by such diverse groups isn’t it? It’s great to be able to support the community in this way.

On Sunday we meet at 8.30 am and 10 am for worship and fellowship. I hope to see you all there!

I hope the spring sun has you all feeling like this fabulous animal. If you think this video couldn’t be better, you’re wrong. The cherry on top is this - what this deer is doing is called “pronking” - what an excellently onomatopoeic word! I intend to work it into conversation at every available opportunity.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gong to pronk off home.

Happy Friday!
