What’s Happening at All Saints

The word ‘subtle’ was actually removed from the Dictionary between 1979 and 1990.

It’s a dry and sunny day in Ladner. I hope everyone is enjoying it - we may not see the like of it again for a while. Personally, I got up too early and I’m feeling the effects. In fact I’ve had to put on some motivational 80’s power ballads to lift my mood. It’s certainly working, I’m definitely feeling more ‘up’ but I also feel like my hair isn’t anywhere near big enough, my eye make up isn’t shiny enough, and my shoulders are altogether too low. Also, it has brought to my attention that you just don’t hear the sound of synthesized bagpipes or handclaps any more and I, for one, feel society is the worse for that.

But, let’s get back to living in the now shall we?

Most important - Pat and Frank Sallis’ Memorial Service will take place on Saturday 11 March at 10 am. I know you will all want to be there to honour our dear friends.

On Sunday 12th February the delightful Reverend Sharon Salomons will lead us in worship at 8.30 am and 10 am.

On Tuesday 14th February we host the monthly free Community Meal at 6 pm. This month the meals will be made with extra love, since it’s Valentines day. The FreshWaves clothing truck will be on hand with clothing etc to share. Thank you to everyone who volunteers to make this meal happen. It’s a lot of work and we appreciate you!

While we’re on the subject of food, don’t forget the Pancake Supper on Shrove Tuesday - 21 February at 6 pm. Please sign up on Sunday or contact the office. We would love an idea of numbers.

On Wednesday 15th February we meet for Eucharist at 10 am before Bible Study at 10.30 am. We would love to see you there.

Don’t forget - on Sunday 19 February after the 10 am service we will have our Budget Information meeting. This is your chance to take a deeper look at the proposed budget and financial reports and ask any questions. Our wonderful Treasurer, Leanne will be here to help those of us who are “financially-illiterate” understand it all.

On Sunday 26 February after the 10 am service is our Annual Vestry Meeting. As you can imagine, there’s quite a lot going on so if you can make it, please do. Your voice needs to be heard.

I think it’s time to move from 80’s music to the 70’s now so excuse me while I put on my fringed EVERYTHING and go ‘Do The Hustle’.
